Does anyone know the standard number of sweeps or standard lenght per axis of Sine Sweep Test?

I will be performing a sine sweep test on crating and was hoping for a standard length of time each axis should be ran for or how many sweeps is common? Our company spec calls out 10 sweeps.

Thanks

Answers

ASTM D999 - Standard Test Methods for Vibration Testing of Shipping Containers offers a standard methodology for running a resonance search using sine sweep. It also specifies methodologies for conducting single container resonance testing and vertical stack resonance testing. That being said, maybe some others can chime in on what they specify at their particular companies. One thing to note, it’s hard to monitor the product internally when searching for resonance while it’s packaged. So, it’s not recommended to use the ASTM D999 sine dwell tests for product component damage testing.
