How do I calculate the oxygen transmission rate through multiple barriers?

I want to calculate the oxygen transmission rate through multiple barriers - do the barriers act independently of each other or do they compliment each other. In other words - if the outer barrier has a tramission rate of .93 cc/m^2/day and the inner barrier has a tramission rate of .36 cc/m^2/day, is the overall tramission rate .36 cc/m^2/day or less than that? And if it is less than that how do I calculate it?
