How does ISTA procedures address the various shipping methods categories like Ship transport,Air,truck rail trans'
I would like to choose the right procedure which cover various shipping methodes (sea air and trucks mainly) as well as considering ambient conditions like humidity, temperature, induced vibrations and dropping/overturning.
ISTA has a web-based custom test planner that would be very beneficial to you, as you seem to know much about your shipping and handling system. Project 4AB (http://www.ista.org/forms/4ABoverview.pdf) allows you to enter what you know about the packaging and the product, and then identify the various temperature/humidity, shipping, handling and warehousing elements of the system - in the order they will occur. Once you are done entering this information the program will create a customized test plan for you that you can use in the lab to simulate the hazards your packaged-product will see in the field.
In most ISTA Procedures and Projects the vibration profiles are focused on the United States, however in Project 4AB there are vibration profiles for global regions, including Asia.
An alternative to using Project 4AB would be to modify an existing 3-Series procedure using the vibration profiles that are more representative to what you know of your shipping environment in place of the profiles that are included.
