The bursting strength of a corrugared board can not be derived from it's basis weight. Burst strength is the measurement of the tearing and tensile strength as well as the resistance of a material to burst, expressed in pounds per inch. The bursting strength of a corrugated box is determinedby the characteristics of the paper used to construct the box itself. I would recommend looking at TAPPI Test Method T 810 “Bursting Strength of Corrugated and Solid Fiberboard.” More information on this test methodcan be found at www.tappi.org
