How to simulate corrosion when using sea containers from Asia to North America?

Several projects & products are planned to be transferred to Asia. How we can simulate corrossion on these parts? Zinc pre-plated steel parts with bare edges (when stamping the parts). Silver plated and tin plated copper bars, others... Corrosion is our main concern, but if there is also a way to test physical damage we can proceed with both depending on the part.

There are certainly ISTA test protocols available to evaluate what type of physical damage might occur during your shipments. For guidance in selecting the proper testing procedure please reference the following link: http://pkgtestexperts.ista.org/Which-... If you'd like further guidance, please contact A.J. Gruber directly at ajgruber@ista.org.

As for corrosion, there are several methodologies available for stand-alone water spray tests and salt fog tests:

ASTM G 85 : STANDARD PRACTICE FOR MODIFIED SALT SPRAY (FOG) TESTING

ASTM B 117: STANDARD PRACTICE FOR OPERATING SALT SPRAY (FOG) APPARATUS

ASTM B 368 : STANDARD METHOD FOR COPPER-ACCELERATED ACETIC ACID-SALT SPRAY (FOG)TESTING (CASS TEST)

ASTM D 1193 : STANDARD SPECIFICATION FOR REAGENT WATER

ASTM D 1654 : STANDARD TEST METHOD FOR EVALUATION OF PAINTED OR COATED SPECIMENSSUBJECTED TO CORROSIVE ENVIRONMENTS
