ISTA 1A Vibration Testing - How to Rotate
I've read the ISTA 1A Procedure and had a question regarding how to specifically rotate the package at the midpoint of the test. I know that the test will start out such that face 3 is on top of the vibration equipment and we'll say that face 5 is towards the front of the machine. For the 90 degree rotation, does face 3 stay in contact with the table with face 4 being towards the front, or is a different face placed on top of the table?
I also have the same question. My interpretation, based on the wording of the Vibration Test Block, Step 9, is face 3 stays in contact with the table. However, I'd like a confirmation becuase a 90 degree horizontal rotation seems to be of no effect on the package.
What’s stated in ISTA Procedure 1A is “…perform a horizontal rotation of… 90° as the specimen rests on the platform”. The intent is to rotate in a horizontal plane and leave face 3 resting on the platform.
