Would you be able to explain how to calculate the g level for procedure 1B, Method A2 (ASTM D 999-01) (rotary) when the test level is 1 in. (25 mm) (or any displacement) peak to peak and a frequency of 3 Hz (or any frequency)? Is there a formula for this that relates g, frequency, and displacement for oscillatory (rotary motion) or random vibration?

The formula that relates g, frequency, and displacement for sinusoidal vibration is:

g = 0.0511 x f^2 x D

g = zero-to-peak acceleration

f = frequency (in your example 3 Hz)

D = double amplitude displacement in inches (in your example, 1 in.)

So, g = 0.0511 x 9 x 1

g ≈ 0.459
