for a scooter of 118# what will be the numbers on 3A testing
OK I shipped a movility scooter back to the merchant in the process the package was damaged the shipepr refuse my claim because the used the ISTA 3A as standard. The box I recved the scooter is made in CHINA weight 118 # the crtificate stamp in the box read ( Bursting test 210 les persq inch min cob wt facings 150 lbs per m sci ft size limit 80 inches gross wt.lt 80 lbs
The box maker seal is what you are reading and is not associated with ISTA package performance testing. I am confused a little because you say the shipper refused your claim because of ISTA 3A. Do you mean the carrier refused because it was not tested to 3A? We can not tell if the manufacturer and shipper of the scooter purchased by you was tested according to ISTA 3A or not without knowing the manufacturer, model number and who you purchased the scooter from when you bought it.
Also, ISTA testing covers the shipment from manufacturer to the consumer and it is not intended to duplicate a return shipment were the package has been opened up and then repacked to ship again. Most likely the scooter should have been over packaged for return if being shipped back via parcel delivery and not returned to a store.
